Today, Food Bridge volunteers came to the South Bay Yacht Club to support a youth Datathon by providing nutritious meals throughout the day. Our amazing team of 8 volunteers cooked a delicious meal for 60 people, using a combination of rescued food from our gleaning efforts and generous donations from ECAP.
We served both protein and vegetarian options, including curry chicken, shrimp with cucumber, and veggie fried noodles. To complement the meals, we offered fresh fruits like oranges and strawberries, along with sweet treats such as homemade cookies and taro coconut milk tea.
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful volunteers for supporting such a meaningful event and helping nourish youth in need.
At the end of the day, we also shared educational tips with students on how to reduce food waste—such as feeding edible leftovers to animals and composting for plants. Uneaten food was thoughtfully packed and shared with families in the community.
