Today, the Food Bridge team hosted an interactive food waste workshop at Silver Bell Academy.
We shared eye-opening facts about food waste and explored practical ways students can help reduce it. The kids were incredibly engaged—asking thoughtful questions, sharing their own experiences at home, and expressing genuine concern for the issue.
Many were surprised to learn that 40% of produce is wasted each year and that 40% of this waste comes from households. These moments sparked meaningful conversations about simple actions they can take, from mindful shopping to using leftovers creatively.
To make the lesson hands-on, we provided each student with seeds and a pot, teaching them how to plant and start their garden.
It was inspiring to see the next generation so eager to be part of the solution!
